Breaking News: Authorities Make Major Breakthrough in Tooele County Homicide Case
Tooele County, UT – The Tooele County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a second suspect in connection with the body found near I-80 in Tooele County last month. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Michael Lee Martin, was taken into custody on Wednesday.
Martin is facing charges of obstruction of justice and abuse or desecration of a dead human body. He is being held in the Tooele County Jail on a $100,000 cash-only bail.
The body was discovered on August 23 by a Utah Department of Transportation worker who was mowing the median near mile marker 70 on I-80. The victim was later identified as 25-year-old Tyler Jeffrey Bonner of Salt Lake City.
Last week, the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office arrested 27-year-old Kade Edward Smith in connection with Bonner’s death. Smith is facing charges of murder, obstruction of justice, and abuse or desecration of a dead human body.
The investigation into Bonner’s death is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Tooele County Sheriff’s Office at (801) 459-8909.
Tooele County Sheriff Paul Wimmer expressed his gratitude to the Utah Department of Transportation for their assistance in the investigation. “We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our law enforcement partners in helping us bring justice for Tyler Bonner and his family,” he said. – Wasatch Defense Lawyers does not represent any parties mentioned above.
